AFTI's primary charitable and educational activities consist of sponsorship and dissemination of research and education in the fields of translation and interpreting through research grants, scholarships, conferences, and commissions for the production of education materials, as well as through the establishment and maintenance of an archive for the collection of documents and artifacts in translation and interpreting. Founded in 1997, AFTI is the charitable foundation for the American Translators Association.
