The name RALI is a French acronym that means "applied research in computational linguistics" — Recherche Appliquée en Linguistique Informatique — and that is exactly what the RALI does. With seven full-time researchers and three professors in the computer science department at Université de Montréal, the RALI boasts one of the largest NLP teams in Canada. Our interests include translation automation, information retrieval, natural language generation and summarization. We have developed such novel and successful applications as TSRali, an online bilingual concordancer currently used by hundreds of translators worldwide, and SILC, our language identification program, which has been licensed to Oracle, Netscape, Mobilkom and other large corporations.
