PAHO is a specialized agency of the United Nations and serves as the regional office for the Americas of the World Health Organization. PAHO developed its own proprietary Machine Translation systems for English, Spanish and Portuguese (all directions), which have been operational since 1980. These systems are commercially available to outside institutions and individuals since 1992. The dictionaries contain over 110,000 words that pertain not only to the medical domain.
